Jacksonville, FL – CSI Companies is proud to announce the mentorship of three outstanding students from Andrew Jackson High School (AJHS) who will be pursuing computer science degrees at the University of North Florida (UNF). John Lowney, Tina Huynh, and Kameron Rainey each have a passion for technology and a drive to excel in the IT field.
The relationship with these students began in 2023 as CSI Companies partnered with AJHS to restore the school’s library into an innovative IT lab, providing students with the resources and experiences necessary to develop IT skills. On top of renovating Andrew Jackson’s lab, CSI has selected five students, who were named “The Jackson Five,” to mentor through high school, college, and eventually the CSI Connect internship program. The CSI IT team presents workshops in the lab, introducing students to the idea of technology and the possibilities within the industry.
Lowney, Huynh, and Rainey are all members of CSI’s “Jackson Five” and have been mentored throughout their senior year learning the field of technology, innovations within computer science, and hearing from guest speakers. This initiative embodies CSI Companies’ commitment to nurturing talent and fostering the next generation of tech leaders.
As Lowney, Huynh, and Rainey continue their studies in computer science at UNF later this year, they accredit their enthusiasm for the field and exposure to numerous opportunities to CSI Companies and the partnership with AJHS. Each of the students express their passion for technology and eagerness to continue exploring the diverse topics within IT.
“The mentorship of these students is vital to developing a pipeline of IT professionals for the future. Our support doesn’t stop at graduation, we are excited for them to major in IT, offer internships, and encourage them in choosing full-time careers within the industry,” said Dominique Carter, CSI Connect Internship Manager.
“I really enjoyed visiting the technology lab at Jackson High School. It was great to meet some students and hear about their college and career aspirations. I was impressed with how many of them had a clear vision for their future regarding what they hope to do in technology. The exposure they’ve received in the tech lab and the mentorship from team members at CSI Companies has clearly set these students up for success,” said Caleb Garrett, Director of Development at UNF College of Computing, Engineering & Construction.
The CSI Connect internship program is proud to be expanding to spearhead community engagement initiatives, employee volunteer programs, and philanthropic endeavors that were formerly driven by CSI Gives Back. While focusing on impacting students of all ages, from elementary schools to colleges, as well as managing the internship program, CSI Connect has the opportunity to have an even bigger impact in the Jacksonville area.
